OrbitWorks Raises $50M to Power Real-Time Spatial Audio for VR Worlds

OrbitWorks announced a $50 million Series B to scale a real-time spatial audio engine intended for VR and AR worlds, games, and virtual production.

The engine models sound propagation, occlusion, and reflections with perceptual optimizations for many concurrent sources. A cloud-hosted binaural pipeline offloads heavy convolution tasks, enabling realistic audio without high-end local hardware.

OrbitWorks provides middleware SDKs for Unity, Unreal, and WebXR, plus tools for designers to audition acoustic zones and tune occlusion maps. Early partners include social VR platforms and a couple of game studios testing atmospheric audio for live events.

Funding will expand data-center footprint for low-latency audio processing, develop authoring UIs for sound designers, and add developer support for mobile platforms.
