Palette Labs launches ColorSafe — automated accessible color system for design systems

Palette Labs introduced ColorSafe, a tool that generates brand-consistent color systems while guaranteeing WCAG-compliant contrast across UI states and components. Designers input brand swatches and usage constraints, and ColorSafe outputs tokenized palettes, contrast ratios, and theme demos for light and dark modes.

The launch comes with a $6.5 million seed round led by Spruce Capital to build further integrations with Figma, Storybook, and major CSS-in-JS libraries. Palette Labs says the funds will also support research into perceptual uniformity and color blindness simulations to produce more inclusive palettes.

Early adopters report that ColorSafe reduced the manual work of color auditing across product themes and accelerated rollout of dark-mode variants. Palette Labs plans an enterprise feature set for dynamic theming where palette adjustments propagate safely across live UIs using a staged rollout mechanism.
