Palette launches PackGen and raises $12M to automate sustainable packaging design

Palette announced a $12 million seed round led by GreenDesign Ventures and launched PackGen, a generative packaging design platform that optimizes dielines, materials, and production parameters for sustainability and manufacturability. Users provide constraints—material type, target recyclability, printing tolerances—and PackGen generates candidate dielines and 3D mockups ranked by material efficiency, transport density, and production cost.

PackGen integrates with common CAD tools and shipping optimization platforms so designers can validate both brand aesthetics and logistics impact. Palette also added features for regulatory labeling and a production-ready export pipeline for converters and printers.

Palette will use the seed capital to expand material libraries, certify outputs with packaging manufacturers, and build plugins for popular design suites. The company positions PackGen as a tool that helps brands reduce packaging waste without sacrificing visual identity.
