PaletteOS launches design-first operating system for creative workflows

PaletteOS launched a public beta of an operating system tailored to creative professionals, reorganizing desktop workflows around projects rather than files. Key features include system-wide color profiles, unified asset libraries that sync across apps, and a gesture layer for quick composition tasks.
The OS integrates native support for vector, raster, and animation files with versioned undo across apps and team collaboration features similar to cloud IDEs. PaletteOS emphasizes non-destructive adjustments, letting users apply system-level effects without altering original assets.
To support hardware partnerships and developer outreach, PaletteOS closed an $18 million Series A led by Halcyon Partners and DesignWorks Capital. The funding will go toward hardware optimization (touch surfaces and color-accurate displays), developer SDKs, and a designer-in-residence program to build launch templates.
