Phantom Pixel raises $12M to commercialize a haptic feedback SDK for game UX

Phantom Pixel announced a $12 million seed round to build a cross-platform haptic SDK that provides granular tactile textures for games and interactive apps. The SDK abstracts device-specific APIs for controllers, phones, and emerging wearables so designers can author "tactile motifs" that reproduce across hardware.

The company emphasizes designer-focused tooling: a waveform editor, timeline-based composer, and a preview device emulator that helps designers iterate on haptic timing and intensity. Phantom Pixel also includes analytics to correlate haptic patterns with player engagement and retention.

Funding will go toward hardware partnerships, expanding supported devices, and building a marketplace for shared haptic motifs. Indie studios testing the SDK report better player retention in early trials when haptics are aligned with visual and audio cues.
