PhotonUI raises $7M to launch MotionKit — reusable motion patterns for product teams

PhotonUI introduced MotionKit, a library of motion tokens and authored transition patterns that designers and engineers can apply across platforms. MotionKit includes an authoring UI for defining easing curves, durations, and component-level choreography, plus runtimes for web and native apps.

The startup closed $7 million in seed funding to build SDKs, analytics for motion performance, and integrations with design tools and component libraries. PhotonUI argues that motion is often an afterthought and inconsistent across platforms, which harms perceived quality and accessibility.

MotionKit offers inspection tools that measure motion CPU usage and potential motion-sickness triggers, helping teams balance delight with performance and inclusive design principles. The roadmap includes a motion audit service that highlights problematic transitions in large codebases.
