Photoshop updates layer compositing engine for real-time collaborative editing

The new compositing engine in Photoshop prioritizes operation-level synchronization instead of full-document diffs, allowing multiple artists to paint and adjust layers simultaneously with reduced merge conflicts. Brush strokes are streamed as operation deltas and reconciled on the server.
Adobe added visual conflict resolution tools that present a history of conflicting operations and let collaborators accept, merge, or discard changes. This model is designed to support large files used in VFX and advertising workflows.
Performance gains also come from GPU-accelerated layering and incremental rasterization, which reduces the need to re-render entire canvases after small edits. Adobe sees this as a major step toward making real-time studio collaboration seamless across geographies.
