Pico Battery unveils 40W flexible cells for wearable designers

Pico Battery introduced its latest cell series targeting wearables, smart textiles, and slim foldables. The 40W flexible cells aim to balance power density with bend tolerance, offering designers thinner battery envelopes and enhanced thermal safety features.

The company highlighted new polymer separators and a stacked pouch architecture that allow cells to bend along a controlled radius without significant capacity loss. Pico also provides reference mechanical fixtures and thermal profiles to help hardware teams integrate the cells safely.

To support manufacturing rollout, Pico closed a $9 million seed-plus round led by Eclipse Ventures with participation from hardware-focused angel investors. The capital will be used to invest in pilot production lines and third-party certifications for consumer electronics standards.

Design teams were particularly interested in Pico’s evaluation kits and modeling tools, which provide power budgets and thermal maps for small-form-factor devices. Pico says it will offer licensing and contract manufacturing partnerships to help startups bring flexible battery designs into production.
