Playcraft announced a $45 million round led by Horizon VC to ship a modular live-service engine targeting mid-size studios. Instead of a full game engine, Playcraft provides pluggable services—matchmaking, persistent inventory, event scheduling, and real-time analytics—that can integrate with existing tech stacks.
The company emphasizes a composable approach so developers can mix Playcraft services with cloud providers and third-party tools. Playcraft also offers a telemetry layer designed for operational visibility into live events and economic telemetry to detect balancing issues early.
Funding will expand global server presence, anti-fraud tooling, and a marketplace of third-party modules. Playcraft believes lowering live-service complexity will enable more studios to sustain long-term games without big ops teams.
