PlayForge raises $200M to scale cloud-native local co-op game platform

PlayForge, a startup building cloud-native infrastructure for local co-op and couch multiplayer experiences, announced a $200 million Series C funding round led by KKR. The platform enables players to host low-latency sessions where controllers and local input are routed through the cloud, allowing friends to play together without being physically present.
Founders position PlayForge as a bridge between streaming services and social play, focusing on low input latency, seamless controller handoff, and integrated voice channels. Publishers participating in the round see the service as a way to revive couch co-op experiences on a global scale, while enabling cross-platform matches and simplified matchmaking.
PlayForge plans to invest in new regional edge deployments, tooling for developers to add co-op features, and revenue-share programs for indie studios. The startup is also testing subscription tiers that bundle access to curated co-op libraries and developer tools for community-driven events.
