PlayForge Raises $40M to Build Live-Service Tools for Indie Game Developers

PlayForge raised $40 million led by IndieUp Capital with strategic investment from a prominent game publisher. PlayForge’s platform provides a turnkey backend for small studios to implement live features like matchmaking, leaderboards, drop distribution, and secure microtransactions without building custom servers.
The company emphasizes low-cost pricing tiers and robust scaling so indie teams can add live services gradually. PlayForge also includes analytics and A/B testing primitives so studios can tune retention mechanics and balance in-game economies with minimal engineering overhead.
Founder and CEO Eli Navarro said the round will fund global data center distribution and continued work on anti-cheat and moderation tools. Early customers include several breakout indie hits that used PlayForge to spin up cross-platform multiplayer during launch week.
