PlayForge secures $30M to launch cloud-native game engine with visual scripting

PlayForge, a four-year-old studio, is launching a new cloud-native game engine optimized for multiplayer experiences and designer-driven iteration. The engine integrates visual scripting with a live shared editing session, allowing level designers and artists to iterate together in real time.

The $30 million round was led by Apex Games Ventures and will be used to expand the engineering team, rent more cloud capacity for hosted sessions, and build integrations for animation and audio middleware. PlayForge says their networking layer reduces rollback for action games and makes authoritative server logic simpler for designers.

Studios piloting PlayForge reported faster prototyping cycles and reduced friction between designers and engineers. PlayForge will offer a free tier for indie teams and commercial licensing for larger studios and live-service titles.
