PlayForge unveils PlayScript, a low-code game scripting environment, after $45M Series A

PlayForge, the startup behind accessible game development tools, released PlayScript, a node-based low-code scripting environment that integrates directly with Unity and Godot. The company said PlayScript is meant to let designers ship playable prototypes without deep programming expertise.
Alongside the launch, PlayForge closed a $45M Series A led by Lightspeed Ventures, with follow-on from Makers Fund and several studio partners. The funds will expand PlayScript’s asset store and add collaborative multiplayer editing where designers can build and test networked mechanics in minutes.
PlayForge plans to offer PlayScript under a freemium model, with paid tiers for team seat licenses and cloud-hosted playtesting. Founders emphasize the tool’s ability to reduce iteration loops between designers and engineers, enabling more experimental mechanics to reach players faster.
