PlayHatch secures $22M Series A to build cloud-native maker tools and unveils CoPlay editor

PlayHatch, which makes rapid prototyping tools for indie developers, announced a $22 million Series A led by LevelUp Partners and released CoPlay, a browser-based collaborative editor focused on multiplayer prototypes.
CoPlay provides networking primitives, visual state machines, and live debugging tools that let designers and programmers iterate on multiplayer logic without spinning up servers. The editor also supports live playtesting with one-click session recording.
The funding will expand PlayHatch's server infrastructure, add more multiplayer templates, and fund education partnerships to integrate the tool into university game labs. The company says its revenue mix includes seat-based subscriptions and marketplace asset commissions.
Early testers praised CoPlay for reducing iteration time and lowering the technical barrier for prototyping networked systems, which historically have been a major pain point for small teams experimenting with social mechanics.
