PolyMill launches neural material generator for PBR textures and trim sheets
Gaming · 4 min read
The generator accepts sketches, reference photos, and parametric sliders (wear, scale, metallic, roughness) to output seamless PBR maps and recommended UV layouts. It produces trim-sheet-friendly outputs and includes a suite of post-process tools for normal map cleanup and mipmap generation. PolyMill emphasized deterministic modes so artists can reproduce a given material from seed parameters.
Integration plugins for Blender, Substance, and Unreal Engine make the assets easy to drop into production. A batch mode enables studios to generate large material libraries with consistent stylistic constraints. PolyMill also released a dataset of authored materials to help teams fine-tune models to their art direction.
Early users praise the time saved in prototyping surfaces and iterative passes on environment dressing. While not replacing hand-crafted materials, the generator accelerates exploration and gives small teams access to large, style-consistent libraries.
