The portfolio playbook has evolved: recruiters skim quickly and favor portfolios with 2–3 concise case studies that focus on problem framing, constraints, decisions, and measurable impact. Screenshots remain important, but context and evidence of collaboration now weigh more heavily in hiring decisions.

Empirical artifacts—A/B test results, funnel improvements, prompt iteration logs, and component documentation—signal that a designer can ship and measure impact. Showing how you worked with PMs, engineers, and researchers is also essential, especially for senior roles.

Candidates should trim visual fluff and add an appendix with artifacts such as research plans, component specs, or evaluation matrices. That makes portfolios easier to assess at scale and increases the chance of progressing to interviews.
