Qualcomm reveals Snapdragon NPU SDK for on-device generative UIs

The Snapdragon NPU SDK provides toolchains and pre-optimized kernels to run generative and small multimodal models efficiently on mobile NPUs. Qualcomm worked with several model vendors to provide quantized runtimes that preserve quality while minimizing power usage.

For design teams building in-device assistants, offline sketch-to-layout features, or real-time image-style filters, the SDK offers example integrations with UI frameworks and a profiling dashboard for latency and energy diagnostics. Qualcomm also released sample models tuned for small screen constraints and touch-driven interactions.

Device makers and OEMs can incorporate these runtimes into their system frameworks, enabling native apps to leverage on-device generation. Qualcomm emphasizes that on-device execution improves privacy and responsiveness for emergent, interactive UX patterns.
