Quill Design raises $11M to launch AI-guided design critique assistant

Quill Design announced an $11 million Series A and launched Critique, an AI assistant that analyzes UI mockups for usability, accessibility, and consistency with design-system rules. The assistant provides specific suggestions—such as spacing adjustments and microcopy improvements—and links to best-practice resources.

Critique integrates with popular design tools and provides a change log and severity categorization for suggested updates. The company emphasizes that its assistant is advisory and built to augment, not replace, peer reviews.

Quill will use the funds to expand model training on design heuristics, add enterprise governance features, and build deeper integrations with design-system tooling. Early customers include product teams at marketplaces and B2B SaaS startups.

Design leads say automated critique can surface low-level issues and improve consistency, but highlight the risk of over-reliance on heuristics. Quill’s value will be judged by the quality and contextual relevance of its recommendations.
