RiftEdge announced a $200 million growth round to scale its VR streaming backbone and released HorizonLink, a dedicated network layer offering sub-frame synchronization and inter-region session handoff to reduce motion sickness and jitter.
HorizonLink integrates adaptive codecs, predictive frame synthesis, and synchronized audio channels designed for multi-user VR sessions. RiftEdge plans to place dedicated edge stacks in major global metro regions to optimize routing.
The funding will expand edge capacity, enterprise SLAs, and developer tools for session orchestration and fraud prevention. RiftEdge also announced pilot programs with large enterprise training providers.
VR studios welcomed the network improvements, saying the ability to maintain session continuity across edge regions is crucial for global events and enterprise training where users may be geographically distributed.
