RiftPlay secures $50M to launch a modular VR multiplayer SDK
Gaming · 5 min read
RiftPlay announced a $50 million Series B led by Meridian Gaming and revealed RiftMesh, a modular SDK tailored for synchronous multiplayer across standalone VR devices. RiftMesh includes networking layers optimized for low-latency spatial audio, avatar consistency, and shared physics reconciliation.
The SDK supports session recording, social presence features, and cross-platform identity mapping to help studios add social play with minimal backend work. RiftPlay emphasizes developer ergonomics with a visual session debugger and one-click scaling to cloud matchmaking.
Funding will expand server infrastructure, anti-cheat services for VR, and a developer portal with templates for social experiences. Several indie VR studios have joined an early access program to bring multiplayer modes to upcoming titles.
