Riot Games unveils Ares: an internal LLM for UX research, personalization, and player feedback analysis
Gaming · 5 min read
Ares consolidates in‑game telemetry, forum posts, and playtest transcripts to surface trends and recommended UX changes for live services. The model is tuned on esports and live-service vernacular so outputs avoid out-of-context assumptions that generic LLMs might make.
Riot incorporated multi-team governance: researchers can flag model outputs, designers can adjust tone and persona, and product managers receive prioritized change lists informed by signal quality. Ares also suggests A/B test configurations and drafts experiment hypotheses for further validation.
Riot stressed that Ares is an assistant, not a decision-maker: human teams sign off on all player-facing changes. The tool reportedly reduced time-to-insight for player sentiment analysis, helping Riot iterate faster on UI tweaks during live events.
