Rivex unveils modular smart display 'Rivex Tile' and secures $40M Series A
Tech · 6 min read
Rivex Tile is a 7-inch magnetic display unit with interchangeable bezels and haptic edges that can be combined to make watches, kitchen dashboards, or tiled walls. Each Tile runs a lightweight RivOS supporting widgets, web apps, and a local mesh network so content can be distributed without a central hub.
The $40 million Series A was led by Horizon Hardware Partners and signals growing investor appetite for composable consumer hardware. Rivex will use the capital to open a pilot factory and expand software tooling for custom UI designers and integrators.
Designers praised Rivex’s emphasis on physical affordances and rapid prototyping, while critics question whether a fragmented ecosystem of tiles can compete with established smart display platforms. Rivex counters that the Tile’s developer SDK will simplify app distribution across modular layouts.
