Runway GenStudio adds interactive prototyping with image-to-animation models
Design · 5 min read
GenStudio's new feature lets designers draw interaction triggers and map them to generative animation behaviors — for instance, hover states, morphing icons, and animated transitions between frames. Image-to-animation models produce keyframes and easing curves that can be exported as Lottie or video.
The tool includes a timeline editor tailored for UI micro-interactions, with a library of generative easing presets and physics-based behaviors. Designers can iterate visually and preview interactions at different frame rates and screen sizes.
Runway positions this release as bridging static design and motion prototyping, particularly for teams without dedicated animation engineers. Export formats and plugins for Figma, Framer, and After Effects make it easy to bring generative motion into existing pipelines.
