Runway introduces 'Temporal UI' — generative video prototyping for microinteractions
Design · 3 min read
Runway added a Temporal UI feature to its creative suite that synthesizes short videos of UI interactions from static artboards or component descriptions. Designers can ask for hover animations, transitions between states, or onboarding motion flows, and Runway outputs smooth, editable clips.
The generator produces vector-friendly outputs and a Lottie export pipeline, which teams can integrate into prototypes or ship as production-ready motion assets. Temporal UI supports timing controls, easing presets, and constraints to ensure animations feel natural and performant.
Runway emphasizes iteration: designers can tweak prompts or anchor keyframes in a timeline editor to refine the animation. The company says Temporal UI reduces the time needed to communicate motion intent to engineers and stakeholders.
