ScaleAI-backed SynthLens raises $120M to launch real-time sensory AI camera

SynthLens closed a $120 million Series B today, led by ScaleAI with participation from Playground Global and existing investors. The round will fund global product rollout and a new manufacturing line focused on compact, ruggedized camera modules for edge-deployed systems.

Alongside the funding, SynthLens unveiled its flagship product, the Sentinel X: a compact sensory AI camera that fuses RGB, depth, thermal, and audio inputs with on-device neural accelerators. The company says the unit achieves inference under 50 milliseconds for common perception tasks like people counting, gesture detection, and shelf analytics.

Target customers include retail chains, logistics warehouses, and robotics OEMs that need low-latency perception without sending raw sensor data to the cloud. SynthLens emphasizes privacy controls and on-device anonymization, and plans SDKs for ROS, Android, and Linux to speed up integrations.
