Sketch 2026 adds token-based design system sync and automated spec verification

Sketch now natively supports design tokens and provides a centralized token registry that can be versioned and published from within the app. Designers can tie layers to tokens and propagate changes across documents with selective overrides, reducing the risk of stale color or spacing values in distributed design systems.

The spec verification feature scans a library and its linked files to flag broken token references, inconsistent spacing scales, and components that deviate from agreed accessibility thresholds. It generates an actionable report and can auto-suggest fixes or create tasks for engineers to reconcile mismatches.

Sketch also announced improved Git-backed collaboration for teams that prefer code-centric maintenance of tokens and components. The integration allows commit-based rollbacks of token changes and supports CI checks—a nod to enterprises trying to bridge designer and developer workflows.
