Sketch 2026.2 Adds AI-Assisted Token Mapping and Legacy Style Migration
Design · 4 min read
Sketch 2026.2 includes a 'Token Migration Assistant' that scans documents, suggests token candidates for colors, typography, and spacing, and proposes mappings to an existing design system. The assistant highlights ambiguous cases and provides a confidence score for each suggestion.
The new workflow emphasizes collaboration: designers can review mappings in bulk, resolve conflicts, and generate migration reports for engineering. Sketch also added an API endpoint for programmatic migration so CI/CD pipelines can validate token coverage as part of releases.
Users report the tool accelerates modernization but caution that automatic mapping requires careful review when design intent includes visual metaphors or brand-specific styles. Sketch plans to add custom mapping rules and more robust conflict-resolution UI in a future patch.
