Sketch 8 introduces AI-assisted symbols and responsive token maps
Design · 4 min read
The latest Sketch release includes an AI engine that analyzes master symbols and proposes responsive variants for breakpoints and content sizes. Designers can accept auto-generated variants or use the suggestions as a starting point for refinement, saving time on repetitive resizing tasks.
Sketch 8 also adds a live token map that binds color, spacing, and typography tokens to component instances; the AI highlights mismatches and proposes canonical tokens to enforce system consistency. The token map synchronizes with popular token repositories and exports to CSS, JSON, and platform-specific formats.
Integrations with developer tools were improved: exported components include annotations explaining token overrides, and Sketch now generates migration guides when a design system token is updated. The release is positioned to help teams scale design systems without manual audits.
