Sketch 96 Brings Variable Font Engine and Component Versioning

The variable font engine supports axis interpolation for weight, width, and slant directly inside Sketch, allowing designers to fine-tune typography without multiple font files. This reduces asset size and offers smoother responsive typography workflows.

Component versioning records changes at the symbol level with notes and the ability to roll back or branch component states. Teams can compare two component versions side-by-side and merge changes with conflict resolution tools.

The update ships with improved font-licensing checks and enterprise sync options. Sketch says these features address pain points for large-scale design systems and front-end handoffs.
