Sketch adds AI-assisted symbol management and cross-file updates

Sketch's new symbol manager uses an internal model to detect similar components across documents, propose normalized variants, and suggest bulk refactors. The tool surfaces differences in spacing, token usage, and nested symbols, allowing teams to reconcile component families quickly.

Changes can be suggested as safe patches that preserve localized overrides, and teams can preview the impact across selected screens before applying updates. Sketch said this reduces accidental token drift and helps enforce a single source of truth in design systems.

The update also integrates with version control metadata so design system maintainers can track who approved a change and why. Sketch plans to offer enterprise hooks for continuous validation against brand rules when files are committed to cloud storage.
