Sketch Adds AI-Powered Component Auto-Layout and Token Sync
Design · 4 min read
Sketch’s new update introduces an AI-driven auto-layout engine that analyzes component intent and automatically applies constraints for responsive behavior. Designers can select a component and use ‘Auto-Arrange’ to create production-ready constraints compatible with mobile and web breakpoints.
A complementary feature automatically extracts and syncs design tokens — spacing, color, typography — into a developer-friendly format. Tokens can be exported to JSON, CSS variables, or popular front-end frameworks, reducing friction at handoff and keeping design systems aligned.
Sketch also extended its plugin API so third-party tools can consume the auto-layout metadata. The company highlighted that the AI models powering these features run on-device for users with enterprise privacy settings enabled.
