Sketch introduces offline AI mode for privacy-first prototyping
Design · 3 min read
The offline mode bundles a compressed model optimized for Apple Silicon and modern Windows machines, letting designers generate assets, auto-layouts, and copy suggestions without cloud uploads. Sketch emphasized that this option is meant for regulated industries and companies that require on-prem workflows.
Sketch also included a sync layer that reconciles locally generated assets with cloud libraries when teams opt into sharing. Admins can enforce offline-only policies or allow selective sharing. The company provided guidelines for IT teams to manage local model updates and monitor resource usage.
Feedback from security teams was positive, citing reduced exposure, while some designers missed the larger model variety available in the cloud. Sketch said it will continue to support both cloud and offline modes, with enterprises able to request fully-managed on-prem deployments for the full model suite.
