Sketch introduces Sketch Assist to generate components and accessibility annotations
Design ยท 3 min read
Sketch Assist provides inline suggestions as designers build UI elements: it recommends semantically meaningful layer names, proposes component extraction candidates, and flags contrast or labeling issues. Suggestions are contextualized to the active design system and can be applied in bulk.
The tool integrates with popular token formats and can generate a JSON manifest used for handoff to engineering teams. Sketch emphasized privacy controls that allow teams to run suggestions locally or through private cloud endpoints to keep design IP in-house.
Early user testing suggests Sketch Assist reduces the time spent on mundane refactoring and improves downstream build predictability. Sketch plans to add a collaborative review flow that lets teams accept or reject Assist recommendations with comments.
