Sketch releases 'Smart Layout 2.0' with constraint-based resizing powered by ML

Smart Layout 2.0 learns from component structure and previous edits to suggest constraint rules that preserve visual hierarchy during resizing. Designers can accept generated constraints or tweak them with an explicit constraints panel that shows inferred relationships.

The ML layer runs locally in Sketch and offers an explanation mode that visualizes which edges and spacing values are being prioritized. That transparency helps designers fine-tune behavior for cases where automatic constraints produce surprising results.

Sketch also added batch-resize previews and an API for design-system maintainers to define organization-wide constraint templates. The release targets teams maintaining large component libraries who need more reliable responsive behaviors across breakpoints.
