Sketchfab integrates AI-optimized LODs for 3D assets to speed web rendering

Sketchfab's system analyzes meshes and textures to generate simplified LODs while preserving silhouette and perceptual detail. It also recommends texture atlasing and streaming-friendly compression settings to minimize download times for consumers.

The platform provides a preview of how the model reduces bandwidth and an estimated user experience score across device classes. Developers can accept the LOD set or tweak thresholds before publishing.

Teams embedding 3D reported significant page-load improvements and fewer fallback issues on mobile. Sketchfab also announced API hooks for CDNs to serve device-appropriate LODs automatically.

Some 3D artists cautioned that automatic simplification still needs artist review for game-level assets; Sketchfab recommended manual touch-ups for production game assets while positioning the tool as ideal for web and marketing use cases.
