SketchMate raises $7M to launch LiveConstraints, a responsive constraint solver for UI design
Design · 3 min read
LiveConstraints introduces a visual interface to declare constraints—relative spacing, alignment, minimum/maximum sizes—that produce predictable adaptive layouts across breakpoints. SketchMate claims its solver reduces the need for manual overrides and leads to more resilient components in production.
The seed round was led by MicroSeed with contributions from several design-ops angels. SketchMate will use funds to extend its solver to support dynamic content sizing, animation constraints, and export to code-aware layout instructions for developers.
Designers in beta reported a stronger alignment between intent and implementation, particularly in complex forms and dashboard layouts. SketchMate plans to offer plugins for the major design tools and APIs for integrating the solver directly into component libraries.
