Skyforge Labs secures $82M to launch satellite-backed low-latency network for cloud gaming

The Series B was led by Frontier Tech Partners and includes strategic satellite and telecom investors. Skyforge plans to deploy test nodes across South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia to measure round-trip improvements compared to traditional backbone routes.

Skyforge’s approach dynamically tunnels game traffic to the nearest low-orbit relay and offloads video encoders to edge PoPs, aiming to shave 30-50ms off transcontinental pings in early tests. The company highlighted partnerships with indie publishers keen to reach new markets without native servers.

A developer SDK will allow studios to define latency tolerances and region fallbacks, and the company will offer throughput and quality SLAs for competitive tournaments. Skyforge expects a pilot program with two mid-sized publishers later this year.
