Presence indicators are conservative — showing only role-based states to reduce social pressure while signaling who can speak and who is in listening mode.

Latency and media quality improvements rely on adaptive codecs and a prioritized-data strategy that drops non-essential streams when network conditions degrade. UX-wise, Slack introduced focus modes that dim desktop distractions while preserving essential notifications from the active channel. This helps participants maintain deep work during productive sessions.

The redesign understands that real-time discussions need scaffolding to be actionable. Huddles now include shared artifacts like a whiteboard snapshot and a task list that can be converted into Slack reminders.
