Slack's redesign introduced semantic grouping and collapsible workspaces to address sprawling channel lists and notification fatigue. Channels can now be nested by project or goal, and a new 'context strip' surfaces pinned documents and current agenda items for each channel.

The UI favors glanceability: quick actions and inline replies make it easier to take action without leaving a conversation, while a redesigned thread overview reduces deep-link jumps. However, the nesting introduces discovery challenges for new members who may not know where to look for legacy discussions.

From a product standpoint Slack traded a flat discoverability model for structured context. The teardown concludes that the redesign helps mature teams collaborate more efficiently but may increase onboarding friction unless paired with stronger migration and search tooling.
