Sora Labs nets $30M to commercialize compact LIDAR for indoor robotics

Sora Labs closed a $30 million Series B led by Eclipse Ventures to scale production of MiniLidar, a compact solid-state LIDAR designed for indoor robotics. The sensor emphasizes power efficiency, a 120-degree field of view, and a sub-10cm accuracy envelope at up to 40 meters.

MiniLidar is targeted at last-mile delivery bots, warehouse inspection units, and service robots where weight and power are constrained. The company offers an integrated SLAM package and calibration service to speed up robot integration.

Sora Labs says customer pilots with logistics providers have shown reduced collision rates and more reliable navigation in cluttered environments. The funding will be used for supply-chain scaling, expanding a calibration-as-a-service offering, and certified testing for hazardous environments.

Robotics integrators say a lower-cost, tightly integrated LIDAR product could lower barriers for commercial deployment, but the sensor market remains highly competitive and margins thin. Sora Labs’ ability to deliver volume and post-sale support will be decisive.
