Spectra VR launches LumiTheater, a social VR theater for live events, and raises $28M Series A

LumiTheater supports synchronized live streams, avatar-driven applause mechanics, and shared spatial cues that enhance presence during performances. Spectra VR focused on low-friction entry: ticketed web sessions that bridge into VR with optional avatar creation and moderation tools for hosts.
The $28 million Series A, led by Solstice Capital with strategic content partners, will expand content pipelines, live-event tooling, and licensing deals with indie labels and festival organizers. Spectra VR also plans to open a creator studio for small acts to stage immersive events without extensive production overhead.
Pilot events included a short film festival and several intimate concerts that leveraged dynamic lighting tied to audience engagement. Spectra VR sees LumiTheater as a way to bring new monetization—virtual merch, spatial sponsorships, and backstage meet-and-greets—to creators while experimenting with novel social formats.
