SpectraCloud launches composable edge AI platform for retailers, raises $42M
Tech · 5 min read
SpectraCloud's platform provides plug-and-play edge apps—people-counting, shelf-detection, queue forecasting—that run on lightweight gateways and can be composed into custom workflows via a visual builder. The company emphasizes data minimization: most aggregation and inference happen on-device, with selective telemetry sent to cloud dashboards.
The $42 million Series B led by Blue Ridge Ventures will fund retail partnerships, additional prebuilt apps, and a certification program for hardware integrators. SpectraCloud also announced pilot programs with several regional grocery chains focusing on loss prevention and conversion analytics.
Retail UX and operations leaders noted the value of composability—teams can start with a single app and incrementally add capabilities without reengineering. SpectraCloud plans to add offline-first analytics and A/B testing capabilities for merchandising experiments.
