Stability AI and Adobe propose interoperability spec for generative design artifacts

The proposed spec defines a JSON manifest that captures prompt history, model version, design tokens used, and editability flags for generated elements. It additionally standardizes fields for legal provenance, licensing, and moderation status so downstream tools can make informed decisions about reuse.

Both companies are inviting toolmakers and standards groups to pilot the format in the coming months, and early adopters include a range of design platforms and asset marketplaces. The goal is to make generated artifacts as portable and auditable as traditional design files.

If broadly adopted, the spec could simplify collaboration across teams that use different generative stacks and provide clearer audit trails for compliance and IP management. The initiative complements industry moves toward token standardization and transparent model metadata.
