Stability AI debuts StableLayout, a diffusion-to-layout model for UI mockups

StableLayout uses a two-stage approach: a diffusion core generates visual mockups, and a separate parser extracts semantic structure and component metadata into a UI schema. The model is tuned to respect standard design patterns and produce artifacts that are easy to convert into code or design tool files.

Stability AI is releasing StableLayout with permissive licensing for commercial use and provides open weights for community experimentation. They also included prebuilt converters for Figma JSON and React component scaffolding to help teams prototype faster.

Designers praised the model for producing layout-aware suggestions that respect platform conventions (mobile vs desktop) and for offering variant controls like density, content richness, and accessibility options. As with other generative systems, users are advised to verify originality when using generated ideas.
