Stability AI open-sources StableDesign 2.0, tuned for UX prototyping

Stability AI announced StableDesign 2.0, an open-source image-and-layout model optimized for interface generation. The team trained the model on a curated corpus of permissively licensed UI screenshots, pattern libraries, and icon sets to better capture grid systems, spacing, and component relationships.

StableDesign 2.0 outputs layered assets (PNG + SVG + JSON layout maps) to make generated screens immediately editable in design tools. The project also ships dataset documentation and a reproducible training recipe so companies can fine-tune the model on proprietary component libraries while retaining provenance.

Because the model is open-source, it has already sparked a flurry of community plugins that bridge outputs to Figma, Sketch, and open-source prototyping tools. Stability AI says commercial usage is supported under a permissive license and encourages enterprise forks for private datasets.
