Stability AI open-sources StableDesign, a vector-based UI generator

StableDesign shifts image synthesis from raster-first outputs to vector-aware generation, producing SVGs and component primitives designers can modify directly. The model supports constraints like grid snaps, bounding box rules, and tokenized color palettes so generated assets are immediately compatible with design systems.

The project includes a CLI and a web playground, plus plugins for Figma, Inkscape, and Affinity Designer. Stability AI framed the open-source release as an attempt to accelerate tooling innovation, enabling community contributions for new component templates, accessibility checks, and custom style packs.

Designers welcomed the move: vector outputs reduce cleanup time and improve handoffs to front-end teams. Stability AI cautioned contributors to follow a community code-of-conduct and announced a governance board to steward the model and dataset provenance documentation.
