Stability AI ships StableCanvas 1.0 — UI-focused image-to-vector model for creators

StableCanvas 1.0 converts raster sketches and reference photos into layered vector outputs with component-friendly primitives. Unlike general-purpose raster-to-vector converters, Stability’s model is trained to preserve design intent, produce consistent stroke weights, and generate named layers that map to common UI components like icons and buttons.

The release includes a web-based editor for cleaning and exporting results, plus an API for batch conversions. Designers can send moodboard batches or hand-sketched pages and receive vectorized, tokenized components ready for integration into design systems.

Stability also launched a plugin for major design tools that inserts generated vectors as editable elements while preserving color, stroke, and alignment metadata. The company emphasized enterprise licensing and workflow integration to make StableCanvas viable for production teams.
