Stable Diffusion 3 introduces layered PSD export for interface assets
Design · 4 min read
Stable Diffusion 3's new export modes let designers generate interface components and immediately receive layered PSD or SVG files with named groups, masks, and editable vectors. The model includes heuristics to detect buttons, icons, and textual regions, producing clean layers that integrate with common design toolchains. This reduces the manual cleanup designers previously faced when adapting generative visuals to interface contexts.
The update also includes prompt templates for component types and an asset bundling tool that packages typography, color tokens, and usage notes alongside exported files. Stable's team emphasized provenance metadata embedded in the files for audit trails and licensing clarity. Designers can opt into higher-fidelity modes for sharper edges and more consistent stroke alignments when creating icons and controls.
While applauded by product designers for streamlining workflows, some creators called for better control over vector topology and anchor point placement. The Stable team noted these are priorities for incremental releases and encouraged plugin authors to build targeted optimizers atop the export pipeline.
