StencilAI Unveils On-Device Inpainting for Privacy-Sensitive Design Workflows

StencilAI released an on-device inpainting tool that runs within the designer’s machine or managed workstations, allowing sensitive imagery and UI assets to be edited with generative fills without leaving the client environment. The company points to agency confidentiality and IP protection as core use cases.

The inpainting model is optimized to run on modern GPUs and a CPU-fallback; it supports layered file formats and preserves vector metadata when applicable. StencilAI also provides enterprise admin controls for model updates and audit trails of generated content.

Designers welcomed the privacy guarantees and reduced need to upload prototypes to external services. Some cautioned about hardware requirements for large-scale teams; StencilAI said it will offer managed on-prem packs for customers without modern local GPUs.

The launch coincides with a $14 million funding round that will fund further offline ML features, broader file-format support, and deployment options for managed enterprise environments.
