TerraGrid Raises $110M to Launch DataPlane, a High-Performance Cloud for Geo-Spatial Apps

TerraGrid announced a $110 million investment led by GeoVentures to launch DataPlane, a cloud infrastructure optimized for massive tile rendering, vector streaming, and spatial analytics. The service is targeted at mapping platforms, AR navigation, and simulation providers needing determinism and throughput.

DataPlane includes GPU-accelerated tile servers, vector compression codecs, and an edge streaming layer to reduce pull latency for clients. The platform also offers policy-driven data access and provenance tracking for sensitive geospatial datasets.

TerraGrid will roll out region-specific nodes and performance SLAs tailored to enterprise clients. Funding will be used to expand capacity, form data partnerships, and build developer tools for easier integration into existing GIS pipelines.
